BluePotter Readathon Recap

Second Day’s Summary:

I did get through a huge chunk of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; about 136 pages were read!

Challenge:

If the books that you’ve read during the readathon became a series of it’s own, what would your main character be doing?

Ex: Bobby Potter would go to Denduron to fight Saint Dane, then go back to Second Earth to search for a soul mate that’s right for him based off his birth order, go talk about religion? (Cat’s Cradle), and finally end the series by enter his fifth year at Hogwarts.

BluePotter Readathon Recap:

All in all, I finished about 15% of the reading I was supposed to do. That doesn’t include the audiobook of The Merchant of Death that I finished, plus the little bit of writing I did (I know, that defeats the point of a readathon). I’m okay with this! I mean, it’s more than I would’ve read and I’m pumped to pick up the next book in the Pendragon series and super hyped to finish the fifth book of Harry Potter now! I know I’ll finish Phoenix before the end of the month. Then I just need to finish one more book for October, which will probably be Cat’s Cradle, seeing as how I’ve already started it.

SO much fun! Hopefully there’ll be another readathon I can participate in soon! Here’s the pre-goals blog and the first day’s summary.

Thanks for reading,

First Day of the Blue Potter Readathon

First Day’s Summary:

The rest of the audiobook for The Merchant of Death is complete and 43 out of the hoped 30 pages were read in The Birth Order Connection. Two of the five goals have now been complete. I also read like four pages in Cat’s Cradle. It’s confusing for my little brain, but hopefully it speeds up and starts adding characters here soon! (I ended up writing later in the night, which I don’t regret! When the feeling strikes, I never compress it. I don’t know the next time I’ll have that urge!)

Today’s goal:

Get through a huge chunk of The Order of the Phoenix and more in Cat’s Cradle.

Today’s challenge:

Put the books you haven’t touched to the side. Only the books you’ve either started or finished during the readathon are necessary. Each title will get their own anagram. For The Merchant of Death, I took out the extra words like the and of and, using no spaces, inputted merchantdeath into this site. I read and picked out Cheat Darn Them as my anagram. Do this for each of your titles and explain why you think this is a nice fit for the book (no spoilers).

The Merchant of Death by D.J. MacHale

  • Cheat Darn Them, because there’s a lot of cheating!! that causes Halla malfunctions!! all over Denduron! OMG stop!

The Birth Order Connection by Dr. Kevin Leman

  • Throne Torn Diner Bocci, because while you and your horribly paired life partner are at the diner, your egos get in the way and dinner is torn apart because both of you want the throne. Also, bocci, whatever that means.

Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

  • Arc Led Scat, because so far, Kurt Vonnegut is scatting and I don’t understand a word.

Okay! That’s my challenge to you! Go, now! Tag me and let the fun ensue! Also, since this readathon is already over, here’s the pre-goals blog and the second day/recap blog.

The Blue Potter Read-o-thon!! Oct 21 – Oct 22

What do you do when you have too many books in your TBR pile? HOST A READATHON!!

It all started when I had the utmost urge to read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix after visiting the Pottermore website. Then it hit me; there are too many books on my shelf that I haven’t read. It just so happens that the books I plan to read are blue-ish, hence the name of the readathon. 🙂

The readathon begins on Oct 21st and ends at midnight on Oct 22nd. It doesn’t matter what time zone you are! I’ll be doing daily activities here on my blog for both the 21st and 22nd along with keeping posted about my page counts. You can also follow my page counts on my Twitter and Goodreads, and see the books I’m reading on my Instagram, @WritingMime.

For this first blog, post what you plan to read during the readathon, whether it be blue books, Potter books, or anything under the rainbow that you need to catch up on. Then, if you like, post a picture of your books in a reply with your goals or tag me in a picture on Instagram and/or Twitter – don’t forget your #BluePotter!

unnamed

For my goals, I plan to read:

  • The fifth book in the Harry Potter series, The Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
  • Finish the audiobook of the first book in the Pendragon series, The Merchant of Death by D.J. MacHale (re-read; wanted to get through the rest of the series, but forgot the beginning)
  • Thirty or so pages (because I’ve been discussing with friends in increments) of The Birth Order Connection by Dr. Kevin Leman
  • The Road by Cormac McCarthy
  • And Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

I’ll be making a recap video on Youtube after the readathon is over just to see how successful I was. Also, since this readathon is already over, here’s the first day’s blog and the second day/recap blog.
